The fifth instalment of the Bourne franchise has been pushed back to the summer 2016.

The movie was scheduled to hit the big screen in the U.S. August 14th, 2015, but now it has been given a new release date of July 15th, 2016 by Universal Pictures.

We were introduced to the character of Cross for the first time in The Bourne Legacy back in 2012, this will be his second outing in the role.

The Bourne series is based on the novels by Robert Ludlum, and the first film, The Bourne Identity, was released back in 2002. The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum followed in 2004 and 2007.

Rachel Weisz and Edward Norton were the other two big names on the Bourne Legacy cast list, but it is not yet known if they will return.

Renner is currently filming Avengers: Age of Ultron, where he will reprise the role of Hawkeye. He also has a second Mission: Impossible role in the pipeline.

However, he will be back on the big screen in the autumn with political drama Kill The Messenger.
