Brad Bird is set to return to the director's chair for the highly anticipated Pixar sequel, which will not hit the big screen until 2019.

And while we are going to meet come familiar characters, Bird says there will be a new feel to the second movie.

Speaking to EW, the filmmaker said: "Hopefully it's the same characters and feel, but going in a new direction.

"I mean, that's the trick with a sequel. It's repeating yourself, without repeating yourself."

It was back in 2004 when we met The Incredibles for the first time and it is hard to believe that a sequel has taken so long.

While there is still no word on the plot or a cast list, we are expecting to see the Parr family back in action.

Bird is no stranger to the animation genre with the likes of The Iron Giant, The Incredibles , and Ratatouille under his belt. However, we have not seen Bird in the director's chair since Tomorrowland: A World Beyond last year.

Finding Dory is the Pixar movie that is currently enjoying huge success at the box office - grossing over $900 million so far.

But before we see The Incredible 2 hit the big screen, Cars 3, Coco, and Toy Story 4 will all be released.

The Incredibles 2 is released 21st June 2019 in the U.S. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
