Brad Pitt was on the red carpet in London last night as his new film Fury closed the BFI London Film Festival.

Fury sees Pitt tackle a Second World War movie as he takes on the role of tank commander Wardaddy in the David Ayer directed film.

And Pitt hopes that the film recognises the work and the struggles of the soldiers who fought during the war.

Speaking to the Associated Press, the actor said: "This film is about the soldiers' exhaustion from the cold, hunger and the accumulative effect on a daily basis.

"We took that to heart. I hope ... soldiers will walk away from this and feel they are recognized."

Fury marks the first time that Pitt has teamed up with Ayer, while this is the actor's first leading role since the success of World War Z last summer.

The movie brings together an all star cast as Pitt is joined by Logan Lerman, Shia Labeouf, Michael Pena, Jon Bernthal. and Jason Isaacs.

Fury has already topped the U.S. box office this weekend and will be in UK cinemas this week.

It has already been a very successful year for Pitt with the Oscar success of Twelve Years A Slave - a film in which he also had a small role.

Pitt is currently filming his new movie By The Sea, which sees him star alongside and be directed by Angelina Jolie.

Pitt and Jolie starred together in Mr and Mrs Smith, but this is the first time that Pitt has starred in a movie helmed by his wife.

Fury is released 22nd October.
