Bryan Singer has revealed that a remake of 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea is set to be his 'next film.'

Singer took to Instagram to announce that he would be in the director's chair for the new project, saying that it is an 'adventure very dear to my heart.'

The movie is an adaptation of the novel by Jules Verne and has been adapted for the big screen by Rick Sordelet and Dan Studney. The movie sees Singer reunite with Studney, who penned the screenplay for Jack the Giant Slayer.

There is still no word on a cast list or a release date, but 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea looks set to be another exciting movie project for the filmmaker. It will also see him take a break from the X-Men universe.

Singer has been working on X-Men: Apocalypse this year - a movie that has just finished shooting - and will be the fourth X-Men movie of his career.

X-Men: Apocalypse will hit the big screen in 2016 and will be the first movie for Singer since the huge critical and commercial success of X-Men: Days of Future Past last year, which was his first film in this franchise since X2.

Apocalypse looks set to bring the James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult trilogy to a close and it is unclear where the X-Men franchise will go after the release of this film.

While there are plenty of familiar faces on the cast list, there are some great new additions as Oscar Isaac, Olivia Munn, Sophie Turner, Alexandra, Shipp, Tye Sheridan, and Kodi Smith-McPhee are all on board for the first time.

We are yet to see the first trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse, but it is already one of the most anticipated comic book movies of 2016.
