Tom Hanks will be back on the big screen this autumn as he teams up with director Paul Greengrass for Captain Phillips.

The movie is based on a true story and follow Captain Phillips as his container ship is hijacked by Somali Pirates.

Hanks will take on the title role in the film and this is already being tipped as a possible Oscar contender.

Captain Phillips marks the first time that Hanks has teamed up with Greengrass, as the director returns for the first time since Green Zone.

Hanks is joined on the cast list by Catherine Keener, Barkhad Abdi and Barkhad Addirahman.

This is just one of the biopic projects that Hanks has coming up over the next six months as he is also set to play Walt Disney in Saving Mr Banks; a movie that is receiving an equal amount of hype.

Captain Phillips is released 18th October.
