The 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' director was a huge admirer of the original movies - which Carrie starred in - when he was growing up and the Princess Leia actress revealed his enthusiasm on set was infectious.

Speaking at the movie's press conference in London, she said: "He was really excited to do the movie. He's a fan and he had this infectious excitement and real focus, which is very good. He really loved doing the movie.

"He was great to work with, very exciting, I mean that sincerely."

JJ has taken over from George Lucas - who created the franchise - and Carrie admitted the pair have very different directing styles.

She said: "George was wonderful as we know, but he never spoke really - other than saying faster and more intense.

"JJ talks a lot and it's really good stuff that he says, so that was exciting. And JJ remembers everyone's name, he puts a lot of his energy as well as his time into this."
