Cate Blanchett triumphed at the Critics' Circle Awards last night as she scooper another Best Actress prize.

Blanchett was named Best Actress for her fine performance in Blue Jasmine - a movie that saw her team up with director Woody Allen for the first time.

It has been a very successful week for Blanchett, as she picked up a Best Actress - Drama Golden Globe and was in the Oscar mix when the nominations were announced yesterday.

Speaking as she picked up her award, she said: "This is so great. What a great day.

"I just want to thank first and foremost Woody Allen. I am just the lucky girl that he happened to call for this."

Blanchett has been the favourite to win the Best Actress Oscar since the autumn; it would mark her first Best Actress gong.

Amy Adams, Sandra Bullock, Meryl Streep and Judi Dench are also in the Best Actress Oscar race.

2014 is set to be a bus year for Blanchett as she is also set to star in The Monuments Men, Knight of Cups and The Hobbit: There And Back Again.

She has also lent her voice to animation film How To Train Your Dragon 2.
