Tatum dons a pair of tap dancing shoes to play fictional actor Burt Gurney in the Cohen Brothers' latest comedy project which is set in the 50s and boasts a star-studded cast that includes George Clooney, Scarlett Johansson, Ralph Fiennes and Jonah Hill.

Although he proved he had some raunchy moves in the 'Magic Mike' movies, Channing struggled with the light-footed moves for 'Hail Caesar!' but Jenna showed him what to do as she has had - unbeknown to him - years of tap dancing experience.

Channing revealed: "We would do about two to three hours everyday and then I would go home and have Jenna help me. She would watch the [choreography] video with me and then go over it with me and then I would do it.

"This one hit a real nerve with her because she's like, 'What. You're doing what?' I was like, 'Tap dancing.' She's like, 'You don't even (tap)! I'm an amazing tapper.' I was like, 'What?' I didn't even know she could tap because there is not a big huge demand for people who can tap dance."

What's more, Channing - who has two-year-old daughter Everly with actress Jenna - has to sing for the first on screen in the film, but he doesn't know if he can hold a tune as he is "tone deaf" to his own voice.

Asked what he thinks of his singing skills, he told PEOPLE: "I just can't tell. My ears go 'beeeep' like I hear a dog whistle or something. I just can't tell. I think I'm tone deaf to my own voice or something, I can't tell if it's good or not ."
