The Hateful Eight will see Tatum return to the big screen in January as he teams up with filmmaker Quentin Tarantino for the first time in his career.

Tatum takes on the role of Jody in the new Western and he revealed that he went to great lengths to make sure that he secured the role.

Speaking on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the actor said: "I basically sent about an email a day for about a month just threatening any other actors that might be up for the role. I was just praying that no one really tough was up for the role."

The Hateful Eight is the first feature film for Tarantino since the huge success of Django Unchained and sees him pen the screenplay as well as being in the director's chair.

The movie sees Tatum star alongsideKurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Dern, and Michael Madsen.

And Tatum revealed that he was a bit over excited when he met Oscar-nominated actor Dern. He continued: "I made this really dumb, overzealous decision and I pull him in really close, and this is at a table read, and I almost pull Bruce Dern out of his chair and he's like, 'You jerk! You almost pulled my arm out of the socket!"

The Hateful Eight will be the first film for Tatum since Magic Mike XXL and will kick off what looks set to be another busy year for the popular actor.

Tatum has already completed work on Hail Caesar!, which is the latest film project from Joel and Ethan Coen and will also star George Clooney, Josh Brolin, Jonah Hill, Ralph Fiennes, and Scarlett Johansson.

Tatum is also set on board the solo Gambit movie and is set to take on the central role. The movie is currently in pre-production and should film next year.

The Hateful Eight is released 8th January 2016.
