Charlize Theron leads new comedy Tully, starring alongside the likes of Mackenzie Davis, Mark Duplass and Ron Livingston, with Jason Reitman (Juno, Up in the Air) sitting in the director’s chair and working off a screenplay from Diablo Cody (Juno, Young Adult). This week, a colourful new poster with Theron front-and-centre was released promoting the movie’s upcoming release, which you can check out below:

Theron takes on the role of Marlo in the film; a mother of three including a newborn baby who’s given the opportunity to relax when her brother (Duplass) gifts her a night nanny. Though this whole new world is something she’s at first hesitant to jump head first into, she comes to form a unique bond with the young nanny Tully (Davis), and is often left surprised by the challenges that come their way.

The film looks to be one of the most promising comedies of the year and has already made a splash with nine critics according to reviews aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes, where it holds a score of 89%. Whether the jokes and humour will land with the wider viewing audience remains to be seen, but Tully could be a huge money maker in the box office if it’s given the right opportunities.

Speaking last year in an interview with Variety magazine, Theron spoke about the challenge of packing on the pounds for her role in the film, explaining: “It was brutal in every sense. This time around, I really felt it in my health.

“The sugar put me in a massive depression. I was sick. I couldn’t lose the weight. I called my doctor and I said, ‘I think I’m dying!’ And he’s like, ‘No, you’re 41. Calm down.’”

The role looks far and away from her recent work on Atomic Blonde, and we’re sure she’ll be proving just why she’s one of the leading actresses in the business when she shows off her acting chops in this upcoming release.
