Denis Villeneuve is one of the most exciting directors around and he is set to return with new film Arrival - and the first time images from the film have been released.

Arrival

Arrival

Arrival sees Villeneuve tackle the sci-fi genre as he returns to the director's chair for his first film since Sicario in 2015. The filmmaker has also brought us movies such as Prisoners and Enemy in recent years.

The movie is based on the short story by Ted Chiang and has been adapted into a screenplay by Eric Heisserer.

Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner are set to take on the central roles of Dr. Louise Banks and Ian Donnelly as they star together for the first time since American Hustle.

And it is Adams and Renner who feature in these two new images, which have been released by USA Today.

Arrival

Adams and Renner are joined on the cast list by Forest Whitaker, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Mark O'Brien.

Taking place after alien crafts land around the world, an expert linguist is recruited by the military to determine whether they come in peace or are a threat.

And Villeneuve is set to stick with the sci-fi genre as he will direct the already highly anticipated Blade Runner sequel.

Arrival is released 11th November 2016.
