Chiwetel Ejiofor

Chiwetel Ejiofor has been linked to the role of the villain for Bond 24.

Casting is currently underway for the highly anticipated next instalment of the James Bond franchise, and The Wrap have reported that Ejiofor is the frontrunner for the villain.

However, a source has told the website that official talks are yet to begin. Neither Ejiofor nor MGM have commented on these latest rumours.

Filming on Bond 24 is expected to get underway in the autumn, as Sam Mendes returns to the director’s chair.

This will be the second Bond film for Mendes, having steered Skyfall to a billion dollar success back in 2012.

The movie will see Daniel Craig reprise the role of 007 for what will be his fourth outing in this iconic role. While no official announcements have been made Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw and Naomie Harris are all also expected to return.

Ejiofor has already had a successful 2014, after winning critical acclaim for his central performance in 12 Years A Slave: a performance that earnt him a Best Actor Oscar nomination.

The British actor will be back on the big screen this week as he teams up with Thandie Newton for the adaptation of Half of a Yellow Sun.

Bond 24 is released 23rd October 2015.
