Chloe Grace Moretz

Chloe Moretz says she avoided watching the original Carrie as she prepared to star in the remake of the horror classic.

Moretz is back on the big screen this autumn as she takes over the central role in the Stephen King horror; a movie that will be directed by Kimberley Peirce.

The actress says that she wanted to develop her own character and not copy anything that had gone before.

Speaking to Empire Magazine the actress said:

"I deliberately haven't watched the original movie. I'm sure what Sissy Spacek and Brian De Palma did was phenomenal, but I didn't want to end up copying any performances. I wanted to make my Carrie come to life and not steal someone else's Carrie."

Carrie will mark the first time that Moretz has worked with Pierce; this is the first film for the director since war film Stop-Loss.

Julianne Moore will play Moretz’s character’s mother in the film, while Judy Greer and Ansel Elgort are also on the cast list.

We have already seen Moretz on the big screen this year as she returned to the role of Hit-Girl this summer in Kick Ass 2.

But she also finished working on Laggies and The Equiliser - both of which are out next year - and has Sils Maris and Dark Places on the horizon.

Carrie is released 29th November.
