Chris Evans

Chris Evans has described making his directorial debut a 'fantastic experience.'

Evans takes up the director's chair for the first time with romance film Before We Go, which has received its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.

And that actor says he isn't concerning himself with what people say about the film, as this is very much a learning process for him.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor said: "It is what it is. We're not expecting to win Oscars, this is my first movie and I'm learning.

"It was a fantastic experience. I truly loved it, it was exactly what I was looking for as a creative and I'm excited to do it again.

"We're just happy to be here. Whatever happens, happens, and I'm just looking forward to the next project."

As well as being in the director's chair, Evans also stars in the film alongside Alice Eve.

Set in New York, Before We Go follows a young woman lost in the city after missing the last train back to Boston.

Evans has already enjoyed huge success in front of the camera this year with Captain America: The Winter Soldier. So far, the movie has grossed in excess of $714 million at the global box office.

He will be returning to that role next year with Avengers: Age of Ultron.

No UK release date for Before We Go has yet been announced.
