Chris Noth is 'doubtful' that a third Sex and the City film will go ahead.

North doesn't think there will be a sequel even though Sarah Jessica Parker previously revealed she would happily reprise her role as style icon Carrie Bradshaw.

Parker previously explained: "A part of me thinks there is one last chapter to tell."

Talking at the National Television Awards in London on Wednesday (23.01.14), Noth told BANG Showbiz: "I don't know anything about it. I haven't heard a thing about it."

The 59-year-old actor expects he would sign up if there was a third film but avoids thinking about the possibility of reprising his role.

He added: "I suppose. Really, it's doubtful [it'll happen]. For some reason that particular rumour likes to pop up a lot. They say that every year so I don't think about it too much. Maybe it'll happen."

'Sex and the City 2' was released in 2010 as a sequel to the 2008 romantic comedy and although it was a commercial success it received negative reviews from critics.

Noth puts this down to "timing" and thinks they hit the "wrong chord" since it was set in Abu Dhabi unlike the series and former film which were both based in New York.

He explained: "I think it was the timing. We were in the beginning of a bad recession. I think they took the show out of New York City, which is the heart of what that show is, along with the girls.

"And I think the dalliance in the Middle East, it struck the wrong chord at that time. I think it was unfairly maligned, but it was timing, I think."
