Chris Pine has described Jack Ryan as a ‘true everyman’.
Pine is set to return to the big screen in the new year in jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit as he take on the title role. The movie set to see the jack Ryan franchise re-launched as Pine teams up with director Kenneth Branagh.
And while Ryan is set to be compared to the likes of James Bond and Jason Bourne, Pine says it is that everyman quality that sets him apart.
Speaking to Total Film, Pine said: "What separates Jack from Bourne or Bond is that he really is a true everyman. So when he gets thrown into a situation like this, he really is thinking on his feet.
"It’s not because he knows any fancy tricks like Jason Bourne or he’s so smooth like Bond. He’s like any of us would be; he’s scared. He’s able to be thrown off balance as any of us would be, trying to get the bad guys."
Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit will be the first time that we have seen Pine on the big screen since the success of Star Trek Into Darkness this summer, it also kicks off a very busy 2014 for the actor.
He has already completed work on Stretch and Into The Woods, and he is currently filming comedy Horrible Bosses 2.
Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit is released 24th January 2014.
