Don't expect to see Christopher Nolan tackle a comedy project any time soon, as he says it is a genre of film that he would never work in.

Nolan has been enjoying critical and commercial success with his latest movie Interstellar, which sees him return to the science fiction genre.

During his career we have seen him deliver drama, sci-fi, and superhero blockbusters, but it looks like we will never seen a comedy movie by the director.

Speaking to the USA Today, the director said: "I would try anything, I think, except comedy or romantic comedy, those are very tough genres to work in.

"They rely on a unanimity of audience response. You screen a comedy for people, and if they don't laugh, you've got to figure out a way to make them laugh.

"There's no hiding behind the art of the film. There's, 'Oh, you don't get it'."

Interstellar is the first film for Nolan since the success of The Dark Knight Rises, and see him team up with Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway.

Interstellar is a movie that mixes great out of space special effects with a touching and powerful human story, and Nolan is once again receiving acclaim for his work.

Nolan has teamed up with his brother Jonathan to pen the screenplay for Interstellar, which has stormed to the top of the UK box office over the weekend.

Interstellar is out now.
