CITIZENFOUR

CITIZENFOUR

CITIZENFOUR is the latest addition to the BFI London Film Festival line-up, where it will receive its UK Premiere.

CITIZENFOUR sees Laura Poitras in the director's chair for her third documentary movie. She has already been behind Flag Wars and The Oath, but this could be her most important film yet.

CITIZENFOUR will be presented as a Documentary Special Presentation and will screen on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th October.

This is set to be one of the most exciting movies on the documentary programme, as it explores the abuse of national security in American post 9/11.

During the filming of this movie, Poitras was put in contact with a man who was ready to lift the lid on the massive covert surveillance programs run by the NSA and other intelligence agencies.

That man turned out to be Edward Snowden, whom Poitras met on several occasions.

Clare Stewart - festival director - spoke about CITIZENFOUR's inclusion in the festival, saying: "We are committed to building and expanding our documentary selection at BFI London Film Festival and are thrilled to be bringing audiences this bitingly relevant film that speaks to the political consciousness of our times.

"Laura Poitras has built a body of work that balances political urgency with striking filmmaking and she demonstrates that again with the hugely significant CITIZENFOUR."

The 58th BFI London Film Festival in partnership with American Express runs from Wednesday 8 October to Sunday 19 October.
