Common and Neeson team up for the first time this week in the Jaume Collet-Serra directed film, which it out tomorrow, and the singer turned actor reveals that he learnt a lot from the veteran while on set.

Speaking to Collider, the actor said: "I was so excited to know that I was going to be in a film with Liam Neeson. His films, they're always fun and entertaining but this one was even more exciting for me because it had a great story to it.

"And getting to work with Liam, not only did I get the tips and the education on the fight scenes, learning from him and sometimes just observing, but then he also would teach me certain things.

"I also got to see him as an actor and really showing he has gravitas and weight. You see that in most of his movies, the gravitas."

Run All Night is the first film from Collet-Serra since Non-Stop, while Joel Kinnaman, Ed Harris, and Vincent D'Onofrio join Common and Neeson on the impressive cast list.

It has already been a busy year for Common, having took on the role of James Bevel in Selma. Common and John Legend went on to win the Oscar for Best Song for Glory last month.

Common has also been linked to biopic Certified, which will look at the life of Kelly Washington. The movie is currently in pre-production and Bille Woodruff is set to be in the director's chair.

Run All Night is released 13th March.
