However, the role the Bruhl will be playing has not yet been revealed, but Variety have reported that he is on board as one of the film's villains. It is also believed that he could be the main villain in Doctor Stranger.

Speaking about Bruhl's casting, Marvel President Kevin Feige said: "With Daniel's ability to deliver intense, nuanced performances, we knew we had found yet another great actor to share the screen with some of our biggest heroes."

Civil War will be the third film in the Captain America franchise and will see Chris Evans return to the role of Steve Rodgers - it will be his first outing as the character after Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Civil War is one of the Phase Three Marvel films that we have known about for some time, and it is set to be the biggest instalment in the franchise to date. The cast list seems to be growing on a regular basis.

As well as Evans, we are also going to be seeing Robert Downey Jr back as Iron Man, while Jeremy Renner has also be linked to the film as Hawkeye. It was also recently revealed that movie will introduce Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther.

The movie is based on the comic book storyline 'Civil War' and will see Rogers and Stark go head to head over the Superhero Registration Act: Rodgers is against it, while Stark is not.

Anthony and Joe Russo are back in the director's chair, after helming The Winter Soldier earlier this year. The Winter Soldier remains one of the highest grossing movies of the year so far.

Filming is due to get underway next year, and Civil War will hit the big screen in the UK on 29th April 2016.
