Blonde To Back Pictures have this week revealed that Rogue One star Daniel Mays has joined the cast of upcoming drama Two For Joy, with Emilia Jones (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) and Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones) also signing up for the production. They join already-announced actors Samantha Morton (Fantastic Beasts) and Billie Piper (Penny Dreadful) in Tom Beard’s feature film debut.

Beard says of the cast additions: “The talent and maturity of our young cast in response to a very emotional and intense script has been incredible. Watching them bring my characters to life has been truly moving.”
Producers Emma Comley and Sadie Frost add: “As producers we feel a responsibility to make strong and unique stories. Tom’s script is powerful and intensely moving, the story is hugely topical now with elements of forgotten Britain and aspects of mental health.”
This coming-of-age drama follows a daughter, her mother and younger brother as the relationship between the family trio reaches a point like none it’s ever seen before. Exploring modern Britain through the eyes of a family who have come to a crossroads, the movie’s bold approach will shine a light on important topics such as mental illness and young carers.
Jones takes the role of teenager Vi, who’s forced to grow up before her time as she cares for her ailing mother Aisha (Morton) and acts as an unofficial guardian to her younger brother Troy (Badger Skelton). Suggesting a break to the family caravan creates a huge change in the family dynamic, as the three meet another family there that set their lives into a wholly unexpected direction.
Caravan park caretaker Lias (Mays) heads up that family, with her sister Lillah (Piper) and daughter Miranda (Ramsey) introducing new elements to Vi’s life that she would never have seen without them. In doing so, the fragile respite the two families have searched for is shattered, but what comes in its place may be just the push each need.
