Emma Stone has revealed that Woody Allen is very protective of the plot and scripts for his movies.

Stone has teamed up with Allen for the first time with Magic in the Moonlight, and she has to give the script back after reading it.

Speaking to The Daily Beast, the actress said: "Some cast members never get to look at the script. Some cast only ever sees their part.

"He's incredibly protective of the plot. I think he goes to great lengths to keep it under wraps.

"I had a very short meeting with him and his casting directors, and about a month later I got to go to his office to read the script, and then give it back."

Magic in the Moonlight is the first film for Allen since the success of Blue Jasmine last year, and sees Stone star alongside Colin Firth.

A great cast has been assembled for the movie, as Stone and Firth have been joined by Marcia Gay Harden, Jacki Weaver, and Eileen Atkins.

Stone has already enjoyed box office success this year with The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and has completed work on Birdman and an untitled Cameron Crowe project.

She is currently working on a new project with Allen, alongside Joaquin Phoenix and Mark Burzenski.

Magic in the Moonlight is released 19th September.
