Eva Green has called Artemisia the most ‘ruthless’ character that she has ever played.
Green will be back on the big screen in March as part of the all-star cast of 300: Rise of an Empire - the sequel to the hugely successful 300.
The movie will introduce the character of Artemisia for the first time - a woman who is the brains behind the invasion of Xerxes - she is also a woman not to be messed with.
Speaking to Total Film the actress said: “She’s the most ruthless character I’ve ever played. I always say, ‘I can’t go darker,’ but I always do.
“She’s like a man. That’s what I like about it. I don’t like ‘girlfriend rules’ and all that shit.”
300: Rise of an Empire is based on the graphic novel Xerxes by Frank Miller, and sees Noam Murro take over the director’s chair from Zack Snyder; however, Snyder is on board in a producing role this time around.
The movie will see Green star alongside Lena Headey, Rodrigo Santoro, David Wenham and Sullivan Stapleton.
Green has also completed work on White Bird in a Blizzard, The Salvation and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For: the sequel to Sin City.
300: The Rise of an Empire is released 7th March 2014.
