Evangeline Lilly has described the upcoming Ant-Man as a 'heist film.'

Lilly is set to take on the role of Hope Van Dyne in the new Marvel movie, which is set to kick off Phase Three next summer.

Speaking on CNN, the actress said: "Ant-Man is very much a heist film. It has all the fun, tension and drama of a good heist film. The heist is being masterminded by myself, my father and Scott Lang."

The movie sees Peyton Reed back in the director's for the first time since comedy Yes Man, while a terrific cast has been assembled.

Lilly are joined by Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Judy Greer, Corey Stoll, and Michael Pena.

And Lilly reveals that she enjoyed working with Marvel for the first time. She continued: "I've been astounded to discover how good to their teams and crew that Marvel are. They're so collaborative, so smart with their stories.

"They have rich, dynamic characters which are so much fun to play. I expected I'd be a cog in the wheel of a big machine - I wasn't sure I'd like this experience. But I've been so astounded at how pleasurable the whole experience has been."

Phase Three will get underway next year, and Ant Man will be followed by Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and Thor: Ragnorok.

Lilly is currently enjoying success with The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, which sees her reprise the role of elf Tauriel - a character were introduced to for the first time in the Desolation of Smaug.

Ant-Man is released 17th July 2015.
