It has been a while since we have seen Salma Hayek in a major leading role but she is set to return to the big screen this summer with Everly.

Everly is an action thriller and will see Hayek take on the title role - Everly is a woman who is forced to take down hitmen that are sent by her ex to kill her.

This is set to be an edge of your seat role for the actress and I cannot wait to see her back in action. The brand new trailer for the film has arrived and we have it for you to take a look at:

Everly marks the return of Joe Lynch to the director's chair for what will be his first feature film since Knights of Badassdom back in 2013 - it is also only the second feature film of his directing career.

Hayek is the film's headlining star and is joined on the cast list by Hiroyuki Watanabe, Laura Cepeda, Togo Igawa, Akie Kotabe and Gabriella Wright.

Hayek stars as Everly, a woman kidnapped and forced to work in a seedy underworld by a ruthless crime lord known as Taiko (Watanabe). After discovering that Everly has betrayed his trust by working with the police, he sends a group of brutal soldiers to torture and kill her in this high octane thriller directed by Joe Lynch (Wrong Turn 2).

Taiko envisages an easy kill but he doesn't count on Everly's strong maternal bond with her four year old daughter Maisey and love for her Mother Edith (Cepeda), which gives her an incredible will to live.

Chaos ensues as Everly tries to protect her family whilst battling an endless stream of sadistic henchmen sent by Taiko, as well as the other tenants in the building who are looking to cash in on the bounty placed on Everly's head.
