'The Expendables' spin-off 'The Expendabelles' is to start shooting early next year, it has been confirmed.

Avi Lerner, who produced all three of the movies in the action film franchise, revealed work is nearly complete on the script for the upcoming motion picture, which will be made up of a largely female cast, with a view to starting work on the project in 2015.

Sylvester Stallone

Speaking at a press conference to promote 'The Expendables 3' in central London on Monday (04.08.14), he said: "We are writing the final lines of the script, we've got lots of ideas about who is going to be in it.

"We're going to do it at the beginning of next year, that's all I can say about this movie right now."

'Expendables 3' star Sylvester Stallone, who has been a part of all three movies in his role as main character Barney Ross, admitted he would love to see Sigourney Weaver lead The Expendabelles into battle in the role as his on-screen wife.

He added: "With 'The Expendabelles' we've got a situation where we're in unchartered waters. Do we put all women actresses together, would that really work? Or do we have some women who are actually really known to be tough, fighters.

"Are The Expendabelles really part of a divorce? Say Barney and then Sigourney Weaver, whose my wife, got a divorce. I'd have to deal with that too. I've lost the house and my mercenaries!"
