With just a week to go until it hits theatres, those behind Fast & Furious 8 are pulling out all the stops to ensure they’ve got packed out cinemas upon release. Now in their latest release, fans can find out a little bit more about Charlize Theron’s mysterious character Cipher, who’s new to the franchise. As the series’ first female villain, Theron is making history in this ground-breaking movie franchise. Check out the featurette below:
Theron joins an all-star cast which includes returnees and newcomers, such as Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges, Helen Mirren, Nathalie Emmanuel, Elsa Pataky, Scott Eastwood and Kurt Russell.
F. Gary Gray directs with a screenplay from Chris Morgan, while Neal H. Moritz and Michael Fottrell join Vin Diesel as producers. Amanda Lewis, Samantha Vincent and Chris Morgan serve as executive producers.
Following the events of Fast & Furious 7 – one of the fastest movies in history to reach $1 billion worldwide in the box office – the ‘family’ are in the best place they’ve ever been. Dom and Letty are on their honeymoon completely loved up, while Brian and Mia have retired from the game. The rest of the crew are enjoying a life of freedom and, for the first time, everybody looks to be leading a normal life.
That is until the mysterious Cipher turns up, seducing Dom back into the world of crime he can’t escape and forcing him to betray those closest to him in the process. Forcing the elite crew to crisscross across the globe to ensure an anarchist doesn’t unleash global devastation, viewers will be left wondering whether or not they’ll ever be able to bring Dom back to a good place, bringing peace to the ‘family’ once more.
