The 33-year-old actress plays the lead role as the Rebel Alliance fighter Jyn Erso in the newly released 'Star Wars' spin-off movie 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' and although Felicity enjoyed playing the intense part, she revealed she often looks at film scripts and thinks the male parts are better.

She said: "I'd rather play the male role."

The decision to cast an actress as the lead in 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' has attracted lots of attention, and Felicity has admitted to being shocked by the stir it has caused.

She told the Metro newspaper: "I was surprised, it doesn't feel to me like it's a big deal at all."

The movie is poised to be one of the biggest hits of 2016, but Felicity has revealed she feared being overlooked for the part of Jyn.

She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I thought the disappointment would be so great if I didn't get it, I kind of used 'The Force' to get me through it."

Despite the interest surrounding her casting, Felicity previously insisted it's "wonderful" that young girls can look up to her character.

She said: "I just feel it's a wonderful moment that young girls get to celebrate someone like Jyn just as they did with Daisy Ridley's Rey [in 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'].

"She is someone who has great humanity, she has an independent spirit and lives by her beliefs, and I think there's something wonderful about her for a young girl to admire."

"Jyn is a fantastic woman ... I saw her as being tough and decisive and I tried to capture that attitude and portray her as an extraordinary heroine. We rarely see a woman like this in film ... "
