Fifty Shades of Grey

Fifty Shades of Grey, which is based on the book of the same name by EL James, has been the most talked about movie so far this year, and has enjoyed huge box office success.

Critics may not have been that impressed with the movie but fans of the books have flocked to cinemas to see Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson take on the roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele.

So far, the movie has grossed $502 million world wide and is comfortably the highest grossing film of 2015 so far - Taken 3 and The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water are second and third with $287 million and $237 million respectfully.

Fifty Shades of Grey saw Sam Taylor-Johnson return to the director's chair for the first time since she made her debut with Nowhere Boy back in 2009, while Kelly Marcel adapted the novel into a screenplay.

The movie has topped the box office in the U.S. and the UK and looks set to see that $502 million gross grow over the coming weeks.

However, it is not all good news for Fifty Shades of Grey, as Variety reported that the movie has been banned in India - despite a cut of the movie that had no nudity and cut back on the level of the sex scenes.

India is the latest country to ban the film, as Kenya, Malaysia, and Indonesia are some of the other places where the movie will not be shown.

Despite the huge success that movie has enjoyed in recent weeks, it is unlikely to remain the highest grossing movie of the year with the likes of Cinderella and Avengers: Age of Ultron set to hit the big screen in the next few weeks.

As we look further into 2015, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1, Spectre, and Star Wars are all set to hit the big screen and will be huge successes at the box office. So which movie will end the year as the highest grossing film of 2015?
