Filming on Captain America: Civil War has officially wrapped.

Captain America: Civil War

Captain America: Civil War

Civil War is already one of the most talked about and anticipated films of 2016 and will see Captain America and Iron Man on different sides and go head to head in this new film.

Filming began back in April and the production has shot in Atlanta, Puerto Rico, German, and Iceland before coming to a close this weekend. And Marvel's co-president Louis D'Esposito took to Twitter to congratulate the cast on crew on their work.

Civil War will mark the return of Anthony and Joe Russo to the director's chair for the first time since they enjoyed critical and commercial success with The Winter Solider last year. This will be the second Marvel movie for the filmmaking brothers and they are set to go on and direct Avengers: Infinity War, taking over from Joss Whedon.

Civil War is set to boast one of the most impressive cast lists of 2016 and just about everyone in the Marvel universe is involved.

The film will see Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie return to the Captain America franchise as they reprise their roles of Steve Rodgers, Black Widow, the Winter Soldier, and Falcon.

Robert Downey Jr, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, and Paul Bettany are back as Iron Man, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, and the Vision and step into the Captain America franchise for the first time.

We are also going to get our first look at Tom Holland and Chadwick Boseman as Spider-Man and Black Panther before they go on to star in their own solo movies in the next couple of years.

Captain America: Civil War is set to kick of Marvel's Phase Three of movies and really help lay the foundations heading towards the two Avenger: Infinity War movies. It also looks set to be the biggest Captain America movie yet and could see a film in this franchise break $1 billion for the very first time.

There are a whole host of comic book movies on the horizon for 2016, but Captain America: Civil War is the one that I am looking forward to the most. I cannot wait to see the first trailer for the film.

Captain America: Civil War is released 29th April 2016.
