Filming is well under way on Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales - the fifth film in the popular franchise, and the first image from the film has been released.

Johnny Depp is back in the infamous role as Captain Jack Sparrow and everyone's favourite pirate finds himself in a spot of bother in this new picture.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer took to Twitter to share this first image with excited fans.

The new film will see Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg in the director's chair for the first time, while Jeff Nathanson has penned the screenplay this time around.

Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Kevin McNally, and Stephen Graham are some of the familiar faces returning, Javier Bardem, Kaya Scodelario, and Brenton Thwaites have joined the cast for the first time.

Orlando Bloom has also been linked with a return as Will Turner - At World's End was the last time that we saw the British actor take on this role.

The new film will follow Sparrow as he searches for the Trident of Poseidon but is being pursued by Captain Salazar - played by Oscar winner Bardem.

However, we have got quite a wait for the film as it is not set to hit the big screen until 7th July 2017.
