The first trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse dropped last week and it looks set to be one of the biggest and most exciting X-Men movie yet. It is a film that I cannot wait to see and the trailer really did not disappoint.

The movie sees Singer back in the director's chair for what will be his fourth X-Men film and his first film since the success of X-Men: Days of Future Past last year.

And the director says that is the formation of the X-Men that is the core of this film. Speaking to Empire, he said: "This movie is about the formation of the X-Men.

"How do you get all these characters who are in different places in their lives to become the X-Men? That's the challenge of the movie."

There are plenty of familiar faces as James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult take on the role of Charles Xavier, Magneto, Mystique and Beast for the third and probably final time.

However, there are plenty of new faces on board as we are introduced to Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, and Kodi Smith-McPhee as Jean Grey, Cyclops, Storm, and Nightcrawler. We will also see the fantastic Oscar Isaac join the franchise for the first time as Apocalypse.

X-Men: Apocalypse is the sixth film in the X-Men franchise and is set to be one of the biggest to date. Days of Future Past grossed over $747 million at the global box office - and was met with acclaim - when it was released in 2014. I can't wait to see if X-Men: Apocalypse can be as big, if not bigger, than its predecessor.

I have always been a fan of Singer's X-Men movies and he looks set to deliver another fantastic movie next year.

X-Men: Apocalypse is released 19th May 2016.
