Michael Myers’ mask is looking decrepit in a terrifying first look poster for the upcoming Halloween movie, from Universal Pictures and worked on by Blumhouse Productions and Miramax. Now confirmed to hit cinemas across the UK in October, hype is at an all-time high for the franchise’s return. You can check out the brilliantly spooky poster below:

Halloween will see Jamie Lee Curtis returning to her iconic lead role of Laurie Strode; a woman who has had to deal with Michael Myers for years and who now will be making one final return for the ultimate showdown. With four decades of history between them, and Laurie being one of the few people to narrowly escape his murderous intent, this could prove to be one of the most shocking confrontations in cinematic history.

John Carpenter also makes his return to the series, serving as creative consultant and an executive producer on the film, joining forces with Blumhouse Productions founder Jason Blum. Meanwhile, filmmakers David Gordon Green and Danny McBride have combined efforts to come up with a story that will not only throw back to the classic, but carve an entirely new path from the events of the original 1978 movie. Green also sits in the director’s chair for the film.

Malek Akkad produces the film under his Trancas International Films company; a company that have been with the Halloween series ever since it started. He works alongside Bill Block. Carpenter and Curtis meanwhile will be joined by Green and McBride as executive producers, under their Rough House Pictures banner.

What’s super exciting for fans of the Halloween series is that original Michael Myers actor Nick Castle will be making a return for the movie. He’ll only play the villain for a couple of scenes however, with actor James Jude Courtney filling in for him for the majority of filming.

Speaking with Halloween Daily News about taking on the role of Myers, Courtney said: “At one point somebody on set asked me, ‘Are you ready for this?’ And I was like, ‘I don’t know.’ This is a hallway I’ve never walked down, man, and now the lights aren’t on. I have no idea what it holds for me. But at least I have a knife in my hand.”

He added of working with Curtis: “I have to give a shout out to Jamie Lee. She is bad to the bone. She’s an amazing human being, a larger than life talent, and a woman who is – I mean, wow, what a pro. Working with her was definitely also a highlight of my life. And getting physical – that woman – I’ll just tell you this: When actors say they do their own stunts – Okay, I can say that because I do. I worked with Tom Cruise on Far and Away, and yes he did do his own stunts. He did his own fighting stuff. – But it’s really rare. Usually a double comes in and does this or does that.

“Jamie Lee is tough as freaking nails. She is a bad to the bone woman.”

We can’t wait to see how the story progresses when Halloween finally makes its return to the big screen!

Halloween hits cinemas across the UK on Friday, October 19, 2018.
