Hitman: Agent 47

Hitman is set to return to the big screen this summer with Rupert Friend having taken over the title role of the first time. The brand new UK poster has been unveiled and sees Friend taking centre stage.

Hitman: Agent 47 is inspired by the hit computer game and sees Aleksander Bach make his feature film directorial debut with the project.

It was back in 2007 when this character was brought to the big screen for the first time - sadly, it did not do well at the box office and was met poorly by the critics.

Eight years on and this iconic character is back and presents Friend with one of the biggest movie roles of his career to date.

Friend has starred in the likes of Starred Up, The Young Victoria, and The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas during his career, but he is possibly best known for playing Peter Quinn in hit television show Homeland.

Friend is joined on the cast list by Zachary Quinto, Ciaran Hinds, Hannah Ware, and Thomas Kretschmann.

Hitman: Agent 47 centres on an elite assassin (Friend) who was genetically engineered from conception to be the perfect killing machine, and is known only by the last two digits on the barcode tattooed on the back of his neck. He is the culmination of decades of research - and forty-six earlier Agent clones -- endowing him with unprecedented strength, speed, stamina and intelligence.

His latest target is a mega-corporation that plans to unlock the secret of Agent 47's past to create an army of killers whose powers surpass even his own. Teaming up with a young woman who may hold the secret to overcoming their powerful and clandestine enemies, 47 confronts stunning revelations about his own origins and squares off in an epic battle with his deadliest foe.

Hitman: Agent 47 is released August 27th.
