As the sequel to the critically-acclaimed movie Paddington, Paddington 2 has some lofty expectations to live up to. With the likes of Hugh Grant joining proceedings as the “ultimate master of disguise”, Phoenix Buchanan, it would seem all the right ingredients are in place for those expectations to be met. Find out a little bit more about Hugh’s character in the newly-released featurette below:

Now happily settled in with the Brown family, Paddington is a much-oved member of the Windsor Gardens community, spreading joy with his infectious personality and humour. All that is set to change in Paddington 2 however, as he quickly becomes embroiled in yet another chaotic adventure, this time landing him in the frame for the theft of a pop-up book he had his eyes on for his Aunt Lucy’s 100th birthday.

With the true thief doing everything in their power to remain free, Paddington and the Brown family will have to do whatever they possibly can to ensure justice is properly served.

Directed by Paul King, the film sees Ben Whishaw returning to voice the titular character, whilst Michael Gambon and Imelda Staunton voice Uncle Pastuzo and Aunt Lucy respectively. Sally Hawkins, Hugh Bonneville, Julie Walters, Peter Capaldi, Brendan Gleeson and Jim Broadbent all also star, of course with the formerly mentioned Hugh Grant.

Simon Farnaby and Paul King co-wrote the screenplay for the sequel, with Jon Croker providing additional material and all three working with the character Paddington Bear, originally created by Michael Bond.

The film’s got off to a great early start, with all 15 of the reviews currently on aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes being positive ones and an average rating of 9.3/10, translating to a 100% TomatoMeter on the website; something that’s rarely achieved! Whether or not the film resonates with wider audiences remains to be seen, but we’re sure with the success of the first that this one is going to make big waves when it drops later this week.

Paddington 2 comes to cinemas across the UK on Friday, November 10, 2017.
