Hugh Jackman

Hugh Jackman believes that Channing Tatum could take over the role of Wolverine when he steps away from the role.

Jackman played Wolverine for the first time back in 2000, and is the only actor to have appeared in all of the X-Men movies since then.

And while Jackman & Wolverine remain hugely popular amongst X-Men fans, Jackman has already said he cannot play this character forever.

Speaking to the Press Association, the actor said: "I don't know who could play [Wolverine]. Channing Tatum could probably play him.

"I've got to admit, when I took on the role, I was 30. But I think I needed to be 40 before I really got it."

However, we will not be losing Jackman from this role any time soon, as he is back on the big screen this spring with X-Men: Days of Future Past.

The movie sees Jackman reunite with X-Men and X2 filmmaker Bryan Singer for the first time since X2, as the director returns to the franchise.

Plans for a third solo Wolverine movie are also on the move, with James Mangold preparing to direct once again.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is released 22nd May
