Hugh Jackman has revealed that he would be open to the idea of reprising the role of Wolverine for a cameo in the new Deadpool movie.

Deadpool is set to hit the big screen this time next year and will see Ryan Reynolds return to the title role - a role that he played for the first time alongside Jackman in X-Men Origins: Wolverine back in 2009. Deadpool is a movie that has been in the pipeline since then, but finally it is a project that is up and running with Tim Miller set to make his feature film directorial debut with the movie.

Jackman has appeared in all of the X-Men movies from X-Men through to X-Men: Days of Future Past, tackling leading roles in spin off movies as well as cameo appearances in the likes of X-Men: First Class. And he is not against the idea of returning to this character once again.

Speaking to MTV News, the actor said: "They are definitely enemies in the comics and they always spark off well together, so I'd be open to that idea."

Reynolds will take on the role of Wade Wilson aka Deadpool in the film, while T.J. Miller and Gina Carano have also been linked to the film. We are set to see Colossus make an appearance in the film, but casting for that role has still not been completed.

As for Jackman, he is back on the big screen this week as he teams up with director Neill Blomkamp for new sci-fi film Chappie, which will see the Oscar nominated actor star alongside Dev Patel, Sigourney Weaver, and Sharlto Copley.

2015 is going to be a year of villains for Jackman as he plays the baddie for the first time in Chappie, before going on to star as Blackbeard in Pan - this is a role I really cannot wait to see him tackle later this year.

Jackman is also set to star as Chuck Berghorn in Eddie the Eagle - a film that is still in pre-production - which he has been linked to X-Men: Apocalypse. Apocalypse is the sequel to Days of Future Past and sees Bryan Singer back in the director's chair. However, it has not been confirmed as to whether Jackman will be back as Wolverine or not.

The movie will see James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult reprise their roles as Charles Xavier, Magneto, Mystique, and Beast, while Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan and Alexandra Shipp have been cast as a young Jean Grey, Cyclops, and Storm. Oscar Isaac has been cast as title villain Apocalypse.

Deadpool is released 12th February 2016.
