Hugh Jackman has revealed that he would love the chance to be part of the Avengers.

Jackman is back as already been part of the X-Men ensemble: he reprises the role of Wolverine this week in Days of Future Past.

But now the actor admits that he would the chance to have Wolverine fight alongside Iron Man, Captain America and Black Widow in an Avengers film.

Speaking to IGN.com, the actor said: "I would love to see him as part of The Avengers because there's a great dysfunction among that team and I think Wolverine would fit right into that. He'd like that."

A second Avengers films is currently being filmed, which will see mutants Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch introduced.

Despite being a Marvel character, the rights to Wolverine is currently owned by 20th Century Fox, so the likelihood of seeing Jackman and Wolverine in an Avengers film is pretty slim.

However, Jackman is back this week as he teams up with Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy for the first time in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Days of Future Past is a sequel to X-Men: First Class and will mix stars from that film and the original trilogy together for the first time.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is released 22nd May.
