In The Heart of the Sea looks set to be a Boxing Day movie that cannot be missed as Chris Hemsworth returns to the big screen and reunites with director Ron Howard. And it is Hemsworth that takes centre stage in the brand new poster for the film.

In The Heart

In The Heart

In The Heart of the Sea will be the second collaboration between actor and director - they teamed up in 2013 for the fantastic Rush - and I cannot wait to see them work together again.

The movie is based on the book In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex by Nathaniel Philbrick, which, in turn, was based on an incredible true story. This tale is believed to be the one that inspired the novel Moby Dick.

In The Heart of the Sea boasts an impressive cast as Hemsworth is joined by Ben Whishaw, Cillian Murphy, Tom Holland, Brendan Gleeson, Frank Dillane, Paul Anderson, Charlotte Riley, and Michelle Fairley.

In the winter of 1820, the New England whaling ship Essex was assaulted by something no one could believe: a whale of mammoth size and will, and an almost human sense of vengeance. The real-life maritime disaster would inspire Herman Melville's Moby-Dick. But that told only half the story.

In the Heart of the Sea reveals the encounter's harrowing aftermath, as the ship's surviving crew is pushed to their limits and forced to do the unthinkable to stay alive. Braving storms, starvation, panic and despair, the men will call into question their deepest beliefs, from the value of their lives to the morality of their trade, as their captain searches for direction on the open sea and his first mate still seeks to bring the great whale down.

I am a big fan of Howard and it is always great to see him back in the director's chair. In The Heart of the Sea is a movie that I have been looking forward to for some time and I cannot wait to see what he delivers. It promises to be a real Boxing Day movie treat.

In The Heart of the Sea is released 26th December.
