Last week, the international trailer and a brand new poster were released for Jake Gyllenhall-led film Stronger, based on true events following the Boston Marathon bombing back in 2013. You can check them both out below:

With Tatiana Maslany, Miranda Richardson and Clancy Brown also amongst the all-star cast, Stronger brings the memories of a working class Boston man, Jeff Bauman, whose iconic photo from the terrorist attack in Boston captured the hearts of people around the world, to the big screen.

At 27-years-old, Jeff has been working on ways to win back his ex-girlfriend Erin (Maslany) and decides to wait for her at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. In the heart of the terrorist attack, he’s caught up in the explosion and loses both of his legs, before losing consciousness and next waking in the hospital.

Helping law enforcement identify one of the bombers, Jeff instantly becomes a hero, but his personal battles are only just beginning. Tackling months of emotional and physical rehabilitation, with the unwavering support of all those around him, a deeply personal account of his journey is here explored.

Defining his courage and new way of life, as well as the challenges he and his closest will face in this new chapter, the film will show a family’s bond and an unexpectedly tenacious love in the face of sheer disaster and destruction.

Directed by David Gordon Green with a screenplay by John Pollono, Stronger is expected to come to cinemas across the UK later this year.
