Alexander has played Sif in both the Thor film so far - as well as making an appearance in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. but her role looks set to become even bigger in the third standalone Thor film.

While the actress couldn't say much, she did whet the appetite for Marvel fans - but reveals that she is left in the dark about certain things.

Speaking to the L.A. Times, the actress said: "Marvel, I think on purpose, they don't tell me certain things. Because they know I'll be like, 'So here's what's gonna happen.' But I do know I will be in Thor 3 and that Sif will have a very pivotal part in that movie. I just can't tell you what because I'll get shot."

A director has not yet been announced for Thor: Ragnarok, but Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston look set to reprise the roles of Thor and Loki - when we were last in Asgard, we saw Loki sitting on the throne.

Throughout recent Marvel movies, we have been teased with a whole host of Easter eggs - the latest being the mention of the Infinity Gauntlet in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

And Alexander reveals that Captain America: Civil War will contain little nods forward to the upcoming Thor film.

She continued: "Yeah, there's a lot of great stuff they've peppered in through Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Avengers, Captain will have some stuff. There's just all kind of Easter eggs and hints, if you're really paying attention. They're so good at interweaving everything throughout those films."

We haven't seen Alexander on the big screen since the success of Thor: The Dark World back in 2012. However, we are going to be seeing plenty of her going through the rest of this year.

She has already completed work on London Fields, which sees her star alongside Cara Delevingne, Amber Heard, Theo James, Billy Bob Thornton, and Jim Sturgess, while Mathew Cullen is in the director's chair.

She is also set to star in thriller Broken Vows with Wes Bentley and Cam Gigandet.

Thor: Ragnarok is released 27th October 2017.
