Celebrating the UK release of Stronger, Lionsgate UK have this week put out a brilliant new clip from the film, starring Jake Gyllenhaal in the lead role of working-class Boston man, Jeff Bauman. Check it out below:

Based on the real-life story of Bauman who was injured during the infamous 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, the movie will see Gyllenhaal take on the role of the 27-year-old who attended the race to try and win back his ex-girlfriend Erin (Tatiana Maslany).

Waiting for her at the finish line, the blast occurs and he loses both of his legs, flipping his world and that of his closest friends and loved ones upside down. Though he’s devastated by the loss of his limbs, Jeff helps authorities identify one of the bombers following his awakening in hospital before taking on months of physical and emotional rehabilitation.

Unwavering support from Erin and his family is key to his recovery, in a journey that tests a bond of a family and just how far people will go to overcome adversity.

Miranda Richardson and Clancy Brown also star in the movie, which is directed by David Gordon Green and from a screenplay written by John Pollono.

Todd Lieberman, David Hoberman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Scott Silver and Michael Litvak all serve as producers, with executive producers Gary Michael Walters, Jeffrey Stott, Anthony Mattero, Nicolas Stern, Riva Marker, Alexander Young and Peter McGuigan all also on board.

Stronger is out across cinemas in the UK now.
