Momoa is set to take on the role of Aquaman, a character we were briefly introduced to in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice last month.

We are going to get to see more of this character in the coming Justice League film before he gets his own solo film.

Momoa has been linked to the role of Aquaman for quite some time and the actor admits that he can't wait to finally get to work on playing him.

Speaking to ET, the actor said: "There's been some things here and there, but I'm stoked. There's a lot of support from fans. There's a big beautiful world. There's a lot - a lot - of stuff. I feel really privileged to know that there's a lot of big, beautiful stuff that's going to happen.

"I'm excited too, for people to see the final product. And now it's our turn - it's Justice League time! I've been waiting for four years that I've known about it that I've had to keep my mouth shut. I'm super pumped to shoot it!"

Justice League Part 1 will see Zack Snyder in the director's chair while Henry Cavill, Ban Affleck, and Gal Gadot will return as Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman.

Justice League Part 1 is about to start filming in London and is set to hit the big screen in 2017. We are going to have to wait until 2018 until we see the solo Aquaman film.

However, James Wan is on board to direct the solo film and Amber Heard has been cast in the major role of Mera. No other cast members have yet been announced.

While Dawn of Justice has not done too well with the critics, the movie has grossed over $700 million at the global box office. Suicide Squad is set to follow this summer with a solo Wonder Woman movie already being filmed.

As for Momoa, we will see him back on the big screen later this year as he has completed work on Going Under, The Bad Batch, and Braven.

Justice League Part 1 is released 17th November 2017 in the U.S. No UK release date has yet been announced.
