Race is a biopic about Jesse Owens, and Sudeikis and Irons are the latest names on board, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Stephen Hopkins is in the director's chair for the film, as he returns to feature film for the first time since Thorne: Sleepyhead.

Sudeikis is set to take on the role of Owens' coach Larry Synder. Irons is on board as Avery Brundag, the head of the American Olympic committee who fought to have the 1963 Olympics held in Berlin.

Hopkins will direct from a script written by Anna Waterhouse and Joe Shrapnel and will also produce alongside Kate Garwood via Totally Commercial Films, Jean Charles Levy for Forecast Pictures and Luc Dyan of ID+
