Moana

Moana is the upcoming Disney film and will be the second animated film from the studio this year - the first was Zootropolis, which went on to gross over $1 billion at the global box office earlier this year.

We already knew that Auli'i Cravalho was on board as Moana and Dwayne Johnson was set to bring the character of Maui, who is half god half mortal, to life.

It has now been announced that Jemaine Clement will lend his voice to the character of Tamatoa, Nicole Scherzinger is on board as Sina - Moana's mother -, Alan Tudyk is Heihei, Rachel House is Moana's best friend Gramma Tala, and Temuera Morrison is Moana's father Chief Tui.

The movie sees Ron Clements and John Musker

back in the director's chair and they are thrilled with the cast that they have brought together for the film.

"Our assembled voice cast for this film is beyond our wildest dreams," said Musker. "We are so fortunate to have this group of talented actors, many from Oceania, breathing life into their characters."

Added Clements, "We are so thankful to have found such extraordinary people who not only capture the voices of these characters, they elevate them in every way."

Clements and Musker have brought us films such as The Little Mermaid and Aladdin and this is their first animated feature since the success of The Princess and the Frog back in 2009.

Three thousand years ago, the greatest sailors in the world voyaged across the vast Pacific, discovering the many islands of Oceania. But then, for a millennium, their voyages stopped - and no one knows why.

The film follows Moana, an adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana (Cravalho) meets the mighty demigod Maui (Johnson), who guides her in her quest to become a master wayfinder.

Together, they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds, and along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she's always sought: her own identity.

Moana is released 2nd December.
