Jennifer Lawrence has shot down the rumours that there is friction between herself and director David O. Russell on the set of their new film.

Lawrence and Russell have reunited for Joy, which is their third movie together, and filming is underway on the biopic about Joy Mangano.

TMZ reported that the pair had been arguing on set, but the Oscar winner has taken to Twitter to put the rumours of falling out straight.

Writing on Twitter she said: "Hey guys," she wrote. "It's Jen! I know I don't go on here a lot because I can barely work email but there's been a terrible rumour going around the last 24 hours so I wanted to clear it up.

"David O Russell is one of my closest friends and we have an amazing collaborative working relationship. I adore this man and he does not deserve this tabloid malarkey. This movie is going great and I'm having a blast making it!"

Lawrence and Russell first worked together on Silver Linings Playbook - for which Lawrence won a Best Actress Oscar for her central performance - before going on to reunite for American Hustle.

This new film tells the story of Miracle Mop inventor Joy Mangano, and will see Lawrence take on that role in the film. The movie will see Lawrence reunite with Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper, while Edgar Ramierez is also on board.

We haven't seen Lawrence on the big screen since the success of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1, but she will be back on the big screen to play Katniss for the final time at the end of the year.

Lawrence will also be reprising the role of Mystique later this year, when filming on X-Men: Apocalypse gets under way. This will be the third film she has played this character and X-Men: Apocalypse is a sequel to last year's Days of Future Past.

Joy is released 1st January 2016.
