Jennifer Lawrence thinks her character in 'The Hunger Games' is a "great role model".

The 23-year-old actress who plays the female lead, Katniss Everdeen, in the adaptation of Suzanne Collin's sci-fi trilogy of the same name, admires her alter-ego's characteristics.

Katniss Everdeen in 'The Hunger Games' is a "great role model".

Jennifer exclusively told BANG Showbiz at the World Premiere for 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire', at London's Leicester Square yesterday (11.11.13): "I don't think you make the decision to be a role model, I definitely didn't. It's something that just happens when you're in the spotlight and you have all these people looking at you and listening to what you're saying, so you have to decide what do I want the younger generation to hear.

"I think Katniss is a great role model, she's strong and she's not afraid to say what's right even when it is scary."

Sam Claflin, who plays male victor Finnick Odair, felt under pressure for his role in the sequel and worked as hard as possible to ensure he was able to do his character justice.

Sam explained: "It was a huge, huge weight on my shoulders, a huge pressure. I think a lot of fans had really high expectations and I was not meeting even half a per cent of any of them.

"I had a lot of work to do. Definitely. You only have to read the description of his introduction to realise I had a long way to go. So I worked hard and that's all I can do."

Other stars who attended the premiere included Ellie Goulding, Union J, The Wanted's Tom Parker and several cast members including Liam Hemsworth, Jenna Malone and Elizabeth Banks.
