Lawrence has returned as the popular heroine in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1, which is the penultimate film in The Hunger Games film series, a character that has propelled her to global superstardom.

And while Lawrence admits that she did have initial worries about taking on such a well-known and popular character, she says that she is so proud of the movies and what she has achieved with this role.

Speaking to the Press Association, the actress said: "We had a feeling that these [films] were going to be big and this character was going to be with me for the rest of my life, [but] this surpassed every expectation we ever had.

"That made me nervous for a few days, because I'm an actor, I don't want to just be remembered as one character."

"But I'm so proud of these movies. I love their message, I love this character, I'm actually honoured to carry this for the rest of my life and to have people remember me as this incredible courageous hero. I hope people mistake it for me."

The Hunger Games has gone on to be a billion dollar box office success and Mockingjay - Part 1 was one of the most highly anticipated films of this year - however, we are going to have to wait another twelve months to see the final instalment.

Since her Hunger Games success, Lawrence has gone on to become one of the most in demand actresses in Hollywood and has already snagged a Best Actress Oscar for her central performance in Silver Linings Playbook.

She is set to reunite with the director David O. Russell in upcoming biopic Joy as well as return to the role of Mystique in X-Men: Apocalypse, which is due to start filming next year.

Since Mockingjay - Part 1 hit the big screen over the weekend; the movie has already grossed over $285 million worldwide and has topped the box office in the U.S. and the UK.

The Hunger Games - Mockingjay - Part 1 is out now.
