Lone Ranger flop causes Disney to rethink Jerry Bruckheimer pertnership.

Walt Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer are set to end their long-running film partnership next year (14).

The company and the producer have decided not to renew their current deal, ending a relationship that has lasted for more than 20 years and resulted in 27 films, according to a statement from Disney bosses.

However, they will continue to work on projects they have developed together such as the fifth installment in the Pirates of the Carribean franchise and another National Treasure movie.

Latest Pirates of the Carribbean will still go ahead

Bruckheimer says, "I am very appreciative of the wonderful collaboration and support I have had at The Walt Disney Company for over 20 years".

According to the statement, Bruckheimer is hoping to produce more mature films while Disney will continue to focus on brands including Pixar animation, the Marvel superhero franchise, Lucasfilm and Disney.

The partnership dating back to the 1990s has created several big hits for Disney, including the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, starring Johnny Depp, which generated more than $3.7 billion in worldwide ticket sales.
