Simmons took on the role of Jameson in the first three Spider-Man films with Sam Raimi and fans are calling for his return when the franchise is rebooted by Marvel.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight about the role, the Oscar winner said: "Doing those movies with Sam was one of the great joys of my career. It was a super fun character so I - I'll never close the door on anything."

Spider-Man will be one of the three Marvel films to hit the big screen next year and it will be the first time that Marvel have made a Spider-Man film.

Tom Holland is set to take over the central role of Peter Parker and we are going to be introduced to the character in Captain America: Civil War later this year.

As for Simmons, he will be one of the new voices on the cast list of Kung Fu Panda 3 later this month. He will star alongside Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, and Bryan Cranston.

He has also completed work on The Runaround, And Punching the Clown, La La Land, and The Accountant - we really are going to be seeing plenty of him on the big screen as we go through the year.

Simmons is currently filming The Snowman, which sees him team up with director Tomas Alfredson. Michael Fassbender, Rebecca Ferguson, Val Kilmer, and Charlotte Gainsbourg complete a great line-up.

Captain America: Civil War is released 29th April. Spider-Man is released 28th July 2017.
